Attachment 1570On the 8th of May Nikolaev Azeri held a memorial evening of the outstanding Soviet and Azerbaijani political and public figure, former President Heydar Aliev at the business center Aleksandrovskiy. Two days later he would have turned 89 years old.

The memorial evening was jointly organized by the Union of Azerbaijani Youth of Ukraine in Nikolaev and the regional cultural and educational center of Azerbaijani Culture of G.A.Aliev.

Attachment 1569The turnover of Nikolaev sea port for the second month remains stable at a record level.

Based on the results of April 2012 the port handled 1.221 million tons of cargo. This figure is twice more than the turnover of the same period during last year. It is noteworthy that in 1996, this level of turnover was achieved by the port only at the end of the year. Last year, the port shipped 8.63 million tons.

In 2012, based on the results of four months Nikolaev Commercial Sea port handled 3.807 million tons of cargo. According to the port chief of Vasiliy Ivanyuk,

Attachment 1568According to preliminary data of the Central Statistical Office, the nominal income of the region's population in 2011 amounted to 29,694 million hryvnia and increased compared to 2010 by 14.1%. The share of Nikolaev region in the total income of the population in Ukraine was 2.4%.

Cash income, which can be used to purchase goods and services increased by 15%, and real disposable income, calculated with taking into account the impact of consumer prices � by 5.8%.

The average monthly disposable income per inhabitant of the region in 2011 equaled to 1636.5

Nikolaev seaport doubled the turnover in April

Attachment 1567In April Nikolaev Sea Trade Port increased cargo handling by 96%, or 0.59 million tonnes to 1.222 million tonnes comparing with the same period of 2011.

In 1996, the annual turnover of the port reached that level.

In 2012, based on the results of four months Nikolaev sea port processed 3 million 807 thousand tons of cargo.

Nikolaev port workers are not going to slow down the rate of cargo handling, and the result of May is expected to bealso high - said the port chief port Vasilyy Ivanyuk.

11 Nikolaev athletes gained Olympic licenses

Attachment 1566Only 70 days are left till the start of the XXX Olympic Games in London, and so, qualification selection is coming to an end for the main starts of the millennium. As of May 7th, 234 athletes in 24 kinds of sport have the right to represent Ukraine at the Olympics in 2012, including 11 from Nikolaev Ukraine.

Attachment 1565On the 8th of May, on the eve of the Great Victory, on the shore of the estuary in Korabelnyy district after reconstruction the memorial to 68-soldiers-olshantsy was opened, which in March 1944 released Nikolaev Ukraine from Nazi invaders. Marines under the command of Constantine Olshansky the first of the Soviet troops entered the battle on Nikolaev lands. Nikolaev troops led by K. Olshansky is unique: the only time in the history of the Great Patriotic War, all the men of a military unit were awarded with the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union. Many were awarded posthumously.
